Football's BACK, baby! *gets fix* ;)

The day was cool and cloudy but comfortable. The stadium was packed, as it always is. :)

The game started off with a bang as the offense looked sharp and the defense was lookin’ good! Tom threw his first touchdown pass of the season to Wes Welker, he of the miracle comeback from torn ACL surgery just nine months ago. He would throw another TD pass to Wes, another to rookie Rob Gronkowski, and the defense would come up with an INT and TD (Gary Guyton), and special teamer Brandon Tate running the ball back on the opening kick-off of the second half 97 yards for a score.

While the offense certainly did well, they did have two field goals instead of TDs on two possessions, and one possession that was pretty bad. Also two missed field goals by kicker Stephen Gostkowski. Still, while there is a lot of work yet to do, there is much that is promising with the offense, particularly the two new rookie tight ends, Hernandez and Gronkowski. Tom looks in top form!

The defense began to let up points in the second half, but they definitely showed sizzle. So there will be things to work on, but building blocks as well.

I did have a great time yelling and cheering, especially in the first half. :)

Good start to the season! And they haven’t lost a home opener at Gillette since they opened the stadium in 2002, so great streak, guys!

Tom looked gorgeous in his postgame press conference. He’s keeping the long hair! Good! While a lot of people are complaining about it, I like it. And rumor is that it isn’t just Giselle who likes it, but Tom, too! Go, Tommy! ;)

Next week, the NYJ!
