Governor Deval Patrick was firmly outspoken in defense of gay marriage. There was plenty of political maneuvering behind the scenes, but who cares? Equal rights shouldn't be voted on. Would you think it a good idea back in the '50s to put black civil rights to a vote in the Deep South? Rights are rights, not to be yanked away or conferred by the latest whim of the masses.
So the Commonwealth endures. So far we haven't fallen into the Atlantic since May of 2004 when gay marriages were allowed to take place. :)
