Week 11: New England Patriots 31, New York Jets 14 (7-3) (Sunday, November 22, 2009)

The real season begins! The NFL’s ‘real’ season starts around Thanksgiving when teams finally know who they are.

The Patriots looked like gangbusters in the first half and then started to sputter in the second, but kept up their energy better this time than they did last week. What started as a rout (24-0 in the second quarter) started to get a little bit of the Jets creeping up but things settled down.

Wes Welker had a monster day, catching 15 balls for 192 yards, a personal best while record-setting (best in the league this year), and a lot of guys had very good days, including Tom. Cornerback Leigh Bodden started things out with a pick-6, running back the first of four interceptions the defense laid on Jets QB Mark Sanchez, and it was fun to watch.

I would have loved to crush the Jets but I’ll take 31-14. ;)

Next week: the undefeated New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football! Two high-powered offenses battling it out! See you there! :)
