Author’s Notes: This story was inspired by Mary Renault’s The Persian Boy. Alexander the Great’s men accepted their leader’s indulgence, who happened to be Bagoas, the Persian Boy, an ex-slave who shared Alexander’s bed. They didn’t object to him being male but that he was a barbarian (non-Greek). It showed their love and respect for Alexander when they accepted Bagoas, and learned to respect him in his own right.
Canon is a jumping-off point but I changed several things, including the survival of Johnny’s gang, as their dynamic was important to this story.
Mostly this is drama with elements of romance, so I said what the heck and included that in the Genre. ")
Yeah, this was going to be a one-shot, albeit a long one, but the boys were just too much fun to play with. ;)
So, enjoy this story of seduction, sex, and a touch of Stockholm Syndrome. ;)

"IT’S TIME, SUNSHINE"
In morning’s light.
Time to say goodbye
In sunshine bright.
"Sunflowers, Violets, And Lilies"
Mel and Johnny awoke, Johnny running fingers through his lover’s hair. He kissed him gently.
“It’s time, Sunshine.”
Mel nodded, wordlessly initiating a new kiss.
Mel was dressed in his own clothes, his eyes drooping as the knock-out drugs took affect. Johnny held his hand and as Mel drifted away, kissed his brow.
When he had asked Mel, “Do you trust me?” before the agent had drunk the water with the drops, Mel had simply said, “Yes,” with his liquid eyes saying so much more.
Oh, Sunshine, you trust too easily.
But he would protect Mel while he was so very vulnerable.
He lifted Mel into his arms, Red carrying Mel’s fedora and greatcoat as they left the cabin. He put them on the front seat of the car, then held Mel while Johnny went into the backseat and handed him over, Johnny eagerly accepting the unconscious man. Red got behind the wheel and they started off down the road, the rest of the gang either watching them go or packing as they prepared their own departure.
Mel’s head was in Johnny’s lap, Johnny gazing down at his face.
You really are beautiful, Sunshine.
He gently stroked the hair back from Mel’s eyes, resting his hand on warm skin.
An hour later they drove up to a smaller cabin, Johnny carrying Mel inside and gently laying him on the bed. Red set the fedora and greatcoat on a chair.
Red left the room and Johnny leaned down, kissing Mel on the lips. As he straightened up he caressed Mel’s face.
“Be careful, Beautiful.”
He turned and left the room.
“Johnny, what are we doin’?”
Johnny watched the cabin. After driving several yards down the road, he had asked Red to stop and had hiked back, Red trailing behind. They were concealed in the woods, Johnny putting a hand on his frustrated second-in-command’s shoulder.
“We can’t leave him vulnerable. We have to wait until he wakes up.”
“John, we locked the doors and windows. What’s he vulnerable to, bears?”
“Maybe,” Johnny laughed, then his expression darkened. “If George Nelson found him, he’d rape him while he’s out cold.”
Red couldn’t argue with that.
Two hours later the front door opened and Mel staggered out, still a little woozy from the drugs. He took a deep breath, checked the angle of the sun, and headed off in a northwest direction.
He stumbled, falling to his knees, and Johnny started forward instinctively, Red grabbing his arm.
Mel struggled to his feet, dusting his hands and pants off, and after a moment, disappeared into the woods.
Red squeezed Johnny’s arm. “Come on, John. We’ve got places to go.”
Johnny watched the path that Mel had taken, then turned and slowly followed Red back to the car.
