Author’s Notes: This story was inspired by Mary Renault’s The Persian Boy. Alexander the Great’s men accepted their leader’s indulgence, who happened to be Bagoas, the Persian Boy, an ex-slave who shared Alexander’s bed. They didn’t object to him being male but that he was a barbarian (non-Greek). It showed their love and respect for Alexander when they accepted Bagoas, and learned to respect him in his own right.
Canon is a jumping-off point but I changed several things, including the survival of Johnny’s gang, as their dynamic was important to this story.
Mostly this is drama with elements of romance, so I said what the heck and included that in the Genre. :)
Yeah, this was going to be a one-shot, albeit a long one, but the boys were just too much fun to play with. ;)
So, enjoy this story of seduction, sex, and a touch of Stockholm Syndrome. ;)

BITTER RAIN

"When I’m feelin’ bad,
Don’t leave me.

When I’m feelin’ low,
Be near me."

The water steamed up the bathroom, Johnny smiling as he watched Mel step into the shower, pulling the plastic curtain, only his silhouette visible. As his lover began to use the soap, Johnny discarded his work-out clothes and pulled aside the curtain, climbing into the shower behind the agent, grasping Mel’s hips. Johnny nuzzled Mel’s neck, murmuring, “You’re lookin’ real pretty this morning, Agent Purty.”

Mel pushed back against Johnny, feeling his lover’s erection poking his ass. Water cascaded over the front of Mel’s body, his skin pink from the hot water.

Johnny pushed him against the wall, gently easing into tight, rounded buttocks. Mel groaned as Johnny set up a rhythm, bodies slick and wet as Johnny thrust playfully, Mel’s moans music to his ears. He reached around and touched Mel’s cock, kneading and milking as he continued pounding, one last thrust bringing him to completion, Mel gasping as he shuddered from his own orgasm. Johnny kept him upright, feeling wobbly-legged himself. He pushed strands of wet hair out of his eyes.

“’Mornin’, Sunshine.”

Mel laughed. “Guess we have to clean up from our cleaning-up.”

Johnny smirked, easing out of his lover and pulling him completely under the spray as Mel yelped.

Johnny brought in the breakfast tray, Mel surprised to see scrambled eggs in addition to toast, sausages, and a cup of strawberries.

“I’ll eat the eggs. I just didn’t want to tell anyone about your allergy in case someone got the bright idea to play a joke. Not that I think they would, but not everyone knows how sweet you are like I do.” Johnny winked.

Mel nodded, happy to eat the rest.

The day was fairly quiet, Mel developing a headache after lunch and taking a nap. Johnny sat in the sitting room, a stack of books beside his comfortable chair. His gang played poker around the dining room table, the ‘dining room’ just one end of the sitting room.

He puzzled over a sentence. Freudian psychology was a tough read. He’d finally gotten his high school diploma while still in prison, but that didn’t mean it was easy to read all this psychology stuff.

It amused him that this cabin of Red’s old neighborhood pal had such high-toned books mixed in with the Zane Grey and Lone Ranger Westerns. He liked both kinds of books.

So did college boy Mel.

The radio was on but the volume was kept low so that their ‘guest’ couldn’t hear anything.

Keeping Mel isolated was one of the things he was studying. Keep him dependent on his captors, specifically Johnny, for food, water, bathroom privileges, entertainment…cut him off from the outside world.

Except he wasn’t using Mel as a test subject.

Sure, he wanted to keep him under control, but he always treated his hostages right. He had just never kept one so long before.

One he had wanted in his bed.

Johnny rubbed his eyes. He was getting to know his hostage, spending time with him, talking politics, sports, and clothes, even food, Mel talking about favorite foods like fried chicken and fresh corn-on-the-cob…

“Evangeline would bring fresh vegetables from her garden, and she started a little side business supplying them to the neighborhood houses.

“And I love chocolate!”

Johnny grinned. “What kind?”

“Dark chocolate. American’s fine, but Belgian is the best. Uncle Horace and Aunt Marinda came back from Europe one year when I was a child and brought back a gift of Belgian chocolates, the finest I’ve ever had.”

“Oh, fancypants taste, eh?” teased Johnny, but Mel only smiled.

Johnny turned the page. He liked those conversations and sure liked the sex, and he was certain that the feeling was mutual.

So far things were working out. The Feds and other cops were looking for them, but this cabin was perfectly hidden away in the Wisconsin woods. They just had to be careful to keep a low profile. Once things cooled down, he and his boys would either make a big score or just melt away into history.

You’ll never see Mel again either way.

He sighed.

“…and J. Edgar Hoover has vowed to bring John Dillinger to justice. There is still a manhunt for the missing Special Agent Melvin Purvis. Citizens are asked to keep on the look-out for Public Enemy Number One and the Bureau of Investigation’s top G-Man, though as time continues, it is feared that Agent Purvis may be dead.”

Harry ‘Pete’ Pierpont snickered. “Agent Purvis looks alive and well to me.” He laid down a card. “He seems very healthy.”

Snickers of amusement went around the poker table. Johnny grinned. ‘Healthy’ was a good word to use.

Red suddenly appeared. “Johnny, I went to check on Purvis. He’s sick.”

Johnny quickly set aside his book and was on his way to Mel’s room.

“He’s in the bathroom, pukin’ his guts out.”

Johnny hurried down to the bathroom, hearing the evidence of Red’s statement through the closed door. He nudged it open, Mel leaning over the toilet bowl while on his knees.

“Don’t…come in,” gasped the sick man.

“It’s okay.” Johnny closed the door behind him and knelt next to Mel, rubbing his back, “Get it all out.”

When Mel was finished, he slumped down on the cold tile floor and Johnny flushed the toilet. He rested a hand on Mel’s shaking shoulder. “Need to sit here awhile?”

The agent clutched his stomach. “I’m…I’m okay now.”

“Come on, now, rinse your mouth and brush your teeth.” Johnny helped him to stand.

After Mel was finished, Johnny helped him back to his room and into bed.

“You don’t have a fever.” Johnny rested his hand on Mel’s brow. “You have any pain? Chills?”

“No.” Mel shakily pushed a strand of hair back from his eyes. “Just my stomach upset.”

Johnny frowned as he sat on the edge of the bed. “Maybe it’s something you ate?”

“I had fried chicken for lunch, and a salad. It all tasted all right.”

“And no one else is sick.” Johnny sighed. “Try and rest, Sunshine.”

Mel turned over onto his side and Johnny kept up rubbing his back, and the exhausted man fell asleep quickly. The gangster went out to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee, wandering into the dining room to watch the card game his men were playing.

“How’s our G-Man?” asked Pete.

“Under the weather. You guys feel all right?”

“Are you castin’ aspersions on my cookin’?” Eddie Green asked.

“No, but maybe some ingredients went bad. What did you use?”

“Fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and lettuce for the salad, and egg wash for the chicken…”

“Whoa…what did you put on the chicken?”

“Egg wash. Makes it taste better…”

“Damnit!” Johnny slammed his cup down on the table, the liquid sloshing inside. “Mel’s allergic to eggs!”

“John, I didn’t know…”

“I know. It’s my fault. I didn’t tell you.” Guilt crept through him as he realized his withholding of information had caused Mel to suffer. He should have trusted that his men wouldn’t have used the knowledge to hurt Mel, and felt guilty about that, too. He sighed. “No eggs for our Special Agent after this.” He picked up the coffee mug and returned to the bedroom, sitting in the rocking chair.

He didn’t like seeing Mel in pain. Sure, if the man tried to escape, he would have to get rough, but it was a big difference between belting a guy for trying to escape and getting sick from a stupid mistake of his.

He sipped his coffee, noticing how vulnerable the other man looked curled up on his side, body slight and lines of suffering around the mouth and eyes.

Yet through it all, he was still gorgeous.

Mel’s eyes fluttered open and he smiled, Johnny’s heart doing a flip-flop. Mel stretched out his hand.

“Stay, please.”

Johnny squeezed his hand and climbed into bed to spoon behind Mel.

Oh, boy.

Who was the captor and who was the captive?

Johnny wasn’t so sure anymore.
