Diana sat cross-legged by the window, watching the rain pour down on the grounds of the luxury hotel. Everything was bright green as the Earth soaked up the needed water.
Long, dark hair flowed over her filmy robe, hands folded on her lap. Wind rattled the panes of glass, the mournful wail of the sea mingling with its howls.
Strong arms encircled her from behind, and she smiled slightly.
“Just watching Gaia’s will.”
Dinah rested her chin on the top of Diana’s head. “Nature certainly puts on a show.”
“Mmm, yes.” Diana’s hands came up to grasp Dinah’s. “As Clark receives his power from the Sun, I receive mine from the Earth.”
Dinah kissed her companion’s hair. “Your strength rivals Superman’s.”
“So it is said.” Diana’s fingers reached out to touch the glass. “Gaia’s tears.”
“That sounds so sad.”
“Sometimes.” Diana watched as apple blossoms swirled wildly in the wind. “There are times she weeps in anger, or sorrow, even in joy. But it’s more of a cleansing, I think, today.”
“Mmm, washing the Earth clean. A lovely image.” Diana could feel her lover’s warmth. “Does she weep for the way we treat her?”
Diana nodded. “Whenever an oil spill fouls the oceans, or trees are clear-cut, or concrete covers what used to be rich earth.”
Dinah chuckled softly. “You sound like Ollie.”
Diana smiled. “Appropriate that Green Arrow should be environmentally-conscious.”
Trees bent while leaves skittered around the gardens, bright splashes of color eye-catching among the greenery.
Dinah’s hands slipped beneath the robe, cupping Diana’s warm breasts.
“Come back to bed, Princess,” she whispered in her lover’s ear.
Diana closed her eyes for a moment, arching her back as Dinah gently rubbed, then opened her eyes and said, “As you wish, Pretty Bird.”
Dinah led Diana away from the tear-streaked window as Gaia wept.
