Argh! Am I Crazy?

Okay, my pro novels have been WIPs for awhile now and I hope to get something polished up enough for submission, but I had a crazy idea: do you think writing romance novels is stupid? Yes, I said ROMANCE NOVELS! ;)

I admit I've never read the genre except for a few times (one had a Mountie in it) but I've read about the kinds of novels popular today and have perused them at the bookstore. Now that I've finally written het again after years of almost exclusive slash, I think I may finally be able to tackle this genre which can be very successful if you're lucky.

Admittedly they won't be looking for Amazons and blond boyfriends, but I actually can wrap my mind around het again!

Romance novels seem to serve a purpose in the general public. My mom didn't read them often but she did enjoy the Regency novels now and again. And I suppose slashfic is a form of romance novel, just using the same gender. ;)

Anyway, I'm not sure of this idea so was wondering if anyone had an opinion. Am I on the right track or should I shipped off to Arkham? ;)
