WE’RE GOING BACK TO THE SUPER BOWL!

Okay, the boys are, not me, but you know what I mean. ;)

It was quite the game! Tom was not his usual sharp self (flu might have slowed him down, but he once played brilliantly in the AFC Championship Game three years ago with a 102-degree temperature) but got the job done in the fourth quarter. After three interceptions earlier, he was 7-for-7 in the fourth, and the Patriots pulled away to put it away. Running backs Kevin Faulk and Laurence Maroney were outstanding, and a defense that has been shaky at times this year came up big, limiting San Diego to field goals. They never got into the end zone. Everyone pulled together!

It was a wondrous thing to win at home. The presentation of the Lamar Hunt Trophy (AFC Conference winners) was done by a prospective Hall-of-Famer, Andre Tippit, and Hall-of-Famer John Hannah was at his side. They are retired now but were exceptional players in the pre-Brady/Belichick era.

Now Patriots’ fans will be heading to Phoenix, Arizona (the stadium is in Glendale) and partying for at least a week! :) The game is in two weeks, and the second week usually sees the most crowds. The local sports station, WEEI, will be sending their radio hosts for that second week.

It’s always great fun to be involved in a Super Bowl! History will be made on February 2nd. Either the Giants upset the Patriots in a bigger upset than the Patriots over the Rams in 2001 (January 2002), or the Patriots win their fourth Super Bowl in seven years and go 19-0. Either way, should be a heckuva game! :)
