The Pats faced a better opponent this week in Tennessee after a week of productive joint practices. Pats' rookies stood out: Chase Winovich and his high motor, Damien Harris with swift running ability, and Jakobi Meyers catching the ball and making plays. Second-year player Isiah Wynn also did well. He's virtually a rookie, as he spent all of last season on IR.
The back-up QBs had it tougher with the Titans' defense this week, but still managed to move the ball. The Pats trailed most of the game until late in the fourth quarter when they took the lead for good.
Tom did not play, but he might next week. The joint practices gave him plenty of work.
Some negatives were too many penalties taken by the Patriots, and Stephen Gostkowski missing a field goal again this week.
So next Thursday, the team hosts the Carolina Panthers. The third game is traditionally when more of the first team plays (the 'dress rehearsal'), so we shall see.
As for the rookies, well, a guy can tear it up in preseason and end up gone in the final cutdown before the regular season, but all of the guys I mentioned have made good cases for themselves to stick around. :)
