I am writing this while looking out through my balcony doors, which have two feet of snow piled up against them, driven by the hurricane-level winds. I can barely see the backyard. The wind has been howling since midnight and the Governor instituted a travel ban, so only essential personnel can be out driving. It's days like this that I'm glad I don't live on the coast! They're getting hammered.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft upped the ante last night. After arriving in Phoenix, he started the press conference with a statement adamantly declaring innocence and backing his head coach and quarterback to the hilt. He also took a shot across the bow of the NFL by telling them to stop leaking information and come out with a report. He expects an apology to his team, especially Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, if no definitive evidence is found that they tampered with footballs.

After a week of talking about balls, the story may end with a video given by the Patriots to the NFL. It shows the ball boy taking the bag of balls (both Pats and Colts footballs) and going into a room, which turned out to be the bathroom! He was in there for 90 seconds. A bit doubtful that he could let the air out of 12 footballs in 90 seconds! Guess what he was doing in there? Yep, using the bathroom before the game! Sheesh!

If the Pats are lying, they are taking a HUGE risk by all these statements. It wouldn't surprise me if they were (nothing much surprises me anymore), but they sound pretty convincing. Of course, the haters are gonna hate no matter what, but as Tom said, you find out who your friends are during something like this. Drew Bledsoe, the guy he replaced in 2001 but remained friends with, stuck up for him publicly this week, and so did other former Patriots and some non-Pats. It's been reported that Seattle is a little nervous that the Patriots might band together so well against the storm (ha, ha!) that they could be breathing fire next Sunday. :)

Luckily it wasn't too bad out here in the western part of the state. I think we got about eight or nine inches although with all the drifts it's hard to say. The local forecasters had been predicting 14-22 inches for us so we got off easy in that sense.

This whole ridiculous scandal thing is so overblown. It's such a minor thing and the reporters are making a big deal out of it because they have nothing better to talk about. It was even the lead story on the national news one day last week. Shouldn't they be focusing on all the real issues going on in the world today? If the Pats win, some idiots will be saying they must have cheated. Ugh.

Yes, for once the western part of the state got off lucky! :) We have close to 30 inches here.

The haters will always say they cheated. Screw them! You can't reason with these idiots, so why bother? We know the truth! :)

Tom has a cold. Might be a result of stress! :(

It's times like these that I'm glad I moved to Texas - today's high is supposed to be 80. I've been walking at lunch in shorts and a t-shirt. I may ride my bike this afternoon if it gets that warm!

That said, I always liked the beauty of freshly fallen snow. I just didn't like having to go out in it.

Heh, I'd rather go through a snowstorm than live through Texas heat. You guys can get pretty hot down there!

Snow is beautiful despite all the problems it causes.
