Last week was the Patriots' bye week, but back to work this week! :)
The Pats were not at their best in the first half, but they were still up 14-10 when they went into the locker room. Tom threw a couple of picks (one absolutely bone-headed) but luckily the Pats' D was up to the job.
And the running game! Jonas Gray, a guy signed off the practice squad a month ago, rushed for 199 yards and 4 touchdowns! It was his first start in the NFL. :)
Gronk was amazing, as usual! He shook off tackles and bulldozed guys and was unstoppable, and blocked on other plays. Julian Edelman was blocking like crazy on a Gronk TD.
So Jonas had 4 TDs, Gronk 1, and TE Tim Wright 1. The Patriots played smashmouth football and won convincingly on a day when Peyton Manning threw 2 INTs and the Broncos lost 22-7 to the St. Louis Rams, and little brother Eli Manning threw FIVE interceptions! Peyton's wide receivers are injured (he hung a few out to dry and admitted as much) and as CBS's Boomer Esiason said during the post-game show, welcome to the world of Tom Brady (less-then-stellar receivers).
The Patriots stomped on the Colts in Indy and now own the best record in the AFC and the No. 1 seed for the moment. Should be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes and Bill Belichick teams always improve in November and December.
Miami beat the Bills on Thursday Night Football and the Jets had a bye week.
NYJ 2-8 (BYE)
Next week, the Detroit Lions come to Foxboro!
