LJ 10th Anniversary!!! :)

Hi, luvs!

I just realized that it's close to my 10th anniversary here on LJ. I created this journal on October 24, 2006, made my first post on November 12th, and my first fic posting on November 21st (Announcement I: The Ready Room), introducing myself to the DC Comics community here on-line. Little did I know the friends I would make and the prolific writing in my future! Good times, good times. :)

I don't know if I'll come up with something for the anniversary, but I wanted to acknowledge it to all my friends here on my f-list, and who have stuck around when a lot of people took off for shinier baubles platforms. A big THANK YOU to all the people who have encouraged me during low points, celebrated with me in good times, and helped me with gifting me with paid accounts and extra icon userpics, which has really made life here more fun. :)

I've had a great time reading, writing, and hosting my Challenges over the years, too. The 2016 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge is my next-to-last Challenge, as I'm seriously considering doing something special for Wonder Woman next year to commemorate her first ever live-action movie. That will be my grand final Challenge and how better to do it than with one of my all-time favorite characters? :) I'm pretty proud of the many Challenges I've hosted (Complete List here) and another big THANK YOU to all who contributed during these past ten years.

It's been a rainy morning with plenty of fog, but we need the rain after a summer of drought. The leaves are turning bright colors and my sister and I are going to the orchard tomorrow to get fresh apples (can't get any fresher!). Life is good. Enjoy your weekend, my friends! :)
Week 6: New England Patriots 35, Cincinnati Bengals 17 (5-1) (Sunday, October 16, 2016)

The Pats started out slow, and here the crowd at Gillette was all hyped up for Brady's home return! The defense made a great goal line stand, forcing the Bengals to turn the ball over on downs with no points. The Pats led at the half, 10-7.

Finally, after more dumb penalties and dopey shenanigans, the Pats began to wake up in the second half with a safety and Gronkian spectacle. He had a 100-yard receiving day (back-to-back games) and Tom threw for 3 TDs. He now has 5,000 career completions and threw for 376 yards. :)

Once again, our kicker missed, this time an extra point. No more Mr. Reliable!

Pats really started to wake up and rolled. The Bengals did their usual meltdown and committed stupid penalties, but Gronk got baited for a taunting penalty. Tsk, tsk! LeGarrette Blount got baited, too, as the Bengals started things and the Patriots were caught retaliating. Gotta be smarter than that!

Lots of Brady signs in the crowd. Brady for President in 2016? I'd vote for him! He's a way better candidate than what we've got.

The Bills and Dolphins won and the Jets play tomorrow night. EDIT: The Jets lost! :)

Next week, on to Pittsburgh at Ketchup Field! :)

Writing Rambles

How typical is this? I'm just about to write the final paragraph of the story I'm planning to submit to my 2016 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge, and I decide I've got a better angle and now I have to do a major re-write! Fortunately, it's not a super-long story, but it will delay my posting. I know, you're all waiting with bated breath, right? ;) Better that I came up with the new idea now instead of after posting, eh?

Most of my writing efforts this month will revolve around my marvel_bang story, mostly prep for AO3 posting and figuring out how many chapters I can fit into one entry on LJ. I also have to write out my master post for the announcement on marvel_bang, but I'm probably going to use the summary I've already used, anyway.

Otherwise I have three Halloween ideas I'm juggling, the one mentioned above, another DC Comics idea, and a Marvel Comics idea. My other DC plot bunny may end up using my Late Entries Policy grace period, as I'm still kind of letting the idea simmer in my cauldron for now. I've already started work on the Marvel idea.

Funny how I'm getting all these seasonal ideas when we're supposed to get a heat wave this week. Thankfully cold weather will be back by next weekend!

Hope your Halloween Muses are spooking you, too! ;)
Week 5: New England Patriots 33, Cleveland Browns 13 (4-1) (Sunday, October 9, 2016)

Tommy's baaaaack!!!!!

Fvck you, Goodell, and your slimy cabal of conniving NFL owners. Brady's back and hell's comin' with him!

Rust? What rust? Tom and the offense looked sharp for the most part. Some sputtering but mostly drives ending up with points. The defense was way better this week. Rob Ninkovich was back and making a difference at linebacker. Punter Ryan Allen was sharp again, but our kicker missed another field goal. WTF is wrong with him?

Martellus Bennett scored a hat trick, Gronk bulled his way down the field, and Chris Hogan was spectacular. Julian? His usual sparkplug self. :) James White was makin' moves.

Belichick took Tom out with 6 minutes to go! Jimmy G. came in for mop-up duty.

The Browns are going through quarterbacks like nobody's business. They went through two today! The third managed not to get hurt. That's in addition to the two QBs they lost in the first two weeks. Yeesh!

Lots of Pats fans in Cleveland's stadium. They cheered Brady's return all day! Sounded like a home game! :)

Tom threw for 406 yards and 3 TDs and had a 128 QB rating.

The Jets lost, 31-13, to Pittsburgh and the Dolphins lost, 30-17, to Tennessee. The Bills are out in L.A. to play the Rams so I'll update their status later. EDIT: The Bills won.

Next week: we're on to Cincinnati! :)

Challenges 'N' Things

Hi, luvs!

Just a reminder that my 2016 DCU Fic/Art Halloween Challenge is up and running. Get in while you can because I'm pretty sure this is going to be the last Halloween Challenge I host for the foreseeable future. I might do something next year to celebrate Wonder Woman's first live-action movie EVAH, but after that, I'll be retiring my Mod Tiara. It seems as if people on LJ are more interested in Kinkmemes and Big Bangs, and I'm not interested in hosting those.

I had a good run. Check out the Fic/Art Challenges page and you'll see a blueprint of LJ's 'hotness' and how it cooled in the past decade. You might want to get into the holiday spirit (ahem) and check out the fanworks from previous Halloweens. Maybe you'll get inspired for this bat swan song! ;)

A quickie reminder that if you can't submit an entry by Halloween, you're still eligible for 'goodies' due to my
Late Entries Policy.

I've had a great time hosting these Challenges and a big THANK YOU to all who participated over the years, contributing fanworks, congratulation banners, encouragement, etc.

Well, I decided to add Timeless to my comics show reviews. I'm a sucker for time travel stories! :)
